By now, I think we’re all familiar with BB cream. Originally a German beauty product, it’s taken on new forms and life in various beauty markets and means something a bit different depending on where you’re shopping in the world. Here in North America, it’s grown in popularity as “beauty balm,” something that really falls between a tinted moisturizer and a foundation. Think lightweight but skin coloured and easy-to-use.
Benefit Cosmetics has introduced a BB cream now exclusively for the eyelids, providing SPF 20 coverage and protection from smoke and pollution, thanks to its EnviroDefend complex. It’s also meant to provide a great base for eye makeup, making it crease, smudge and fade-free.
The product is easy to use – simply twist up to dispense the product (one click per eye) and you’ll see it make its way to the top of the CushionCalm tip. This can be used directly on the lids and blended out using the soft tip, which is great considering how delicate the skin around the eyes is.
Looking at the ingredient list, this is a silicone-based primer meaning it will make your skin a glass-like surface so product will glide on evenly and smoothly. The titanium dioxide in the product guarantees that SPF coverage which is so necessary especially around the eye area.
I know I’ll be reaching for this daily since my lids crease like crazy most days, especially when I do a full eye look! You can grab it this month for $38 CAD.
