I don’t know why, but I’ve been on a bit of a mascara roll as of late. Maybelline’s Lash Sensation was a huge hit, I recently fell in love again with L’Oreal’s Telescopic (an old favourite) and now Benefit has dropped yet another kick-ass product that’s raised the bar again in the lash department.
Roller Lash is Benefit’s latest offering, a mascara made to lift & curl with its patent-pending Hook ‘n’ Roll brush featuring tiny hooks to catch even the shortest and straightest of lashes. As with most Benefit product launches, the announcement had the internet abuzz with excitement ahead of its debut and I was quick to get my hands on a tube once it hit shelves.
First impressions? I was obsessed with the packaging/branding (Benefit just seems to keep getting better and better in that department) and pleased to see it was the same price point as They’re Real! ($29.00 CAD), my go-to mascara for the last few years. The handle on the brush itself has a cushiony-soft feel, making it that much more comfortable to hold while applying.
Once applied, the results were stellar. There’s no questioning performance on this one, ladies – Benefit’s done it again.
What I was most surprised about was how the product felt on my lashes throughout the day, because rather than feeling flaky or crispy my lashes felt soft and performance held up. For once, a product said to have conditioning effects (in this case, provitamin B5 and serine) has actually lived up to its claims.
I’d heard from some folks they found the product transferred throughout the day, but I didn’t have anything like that. The only downside I found to this was removal – personally, I found it challenging to get off easily. My Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Balm does the trick though, with a bit of Simple Cleansing Micellar Water.
If you’re debating giving this a shot, I say go for it. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed! Find it at Sephora or Shopper’s Drug Mart for $29.00.
