Can you believe it? It’s September 1st.
I know, stating the obvious. But holy moly!
Summer really flew this year…I always feel like I never fully enjoy it even when I intend to fill my weekends with beach days, brunch, trips up north, concerts and so on. Some weeks just come along where the weekend just needs to be a do-nothing kind of deal, and I had my share of those this summer.
Brad and I did make a point to visit the Canadian National Exhibition last week (CNE) as a sort of last-blast of summer fun – everyone knows when the CNE rolls around, the countdown is really on. We actually ended up there twice, once just for the Ex and the second for a concert, and we managed to treat ourself to some serious food indulgences, blow some money on carnival games and pick up a set of sheets Brad’s been thinking about since buying a first set last year (if you go to the Ex next year, find the guy selling sheets and pillows – his stuff is seriously nice. no joke.). I also rode a mechanical bull and learned that those things are really hard to ride wearing jeans…I pretty much slid right off. Chaps make a lot more sense to me now.
I’m really looking forward to fall and the last few months of the year. I’ve already started saving for Christmas and working on my shopping lists, and pretty much have my sights set on getting there from now on (sorry ya’ll, I freaking LOVE Christmas). I’ve already busted out the fall beauty and fashion too and have pretty much left summer behind me…can’t say I’ll miss it too much, until the snow comes of course.
Check out some of my photos from the CNE – did you get there this year? How did you celebrate the last week of summer?
