That title was my attempt at a School House Rock-esque lead. How’d I do?
They say nutrition is about 70% of the battle when it comes to getting healthy and losing weight. I wish it weren’t true so I could gorge on pizza, get in a killer workout and call it even, but sadly it is and when it comes to looking and feeling our best, we are what we eat.
It’s common knowledge now that getting healthy comes down to eating clean and keeping your body functioning at peak performance. Striking sugar, eliminating processed foods and focusing on whole, healthy and natural ingredients combined with regular exercise is the formula to good health, right?

Turns out, there’s another element to this I can honestly say I’m not well-versed in – digestion. I’ve been on track with my clean eating lately and definitely notice a difference in my digestion, but it’s a bit of a mystery to me why exactly this is the case.
My dear friend Amanda Laird is Holistic Nutrition Student Practitioner and wants to help us all better understand this part of our health. Turns out poor digestion can actually impact the results we see from eating healthy (or lack thereof), as well as gas & bloating, skin problems, inflammation, IBS and all kinds of other “movement” related problems people face.
She’s holding her first nutrition & yoga workshop called Optimize Your Digestion on March 28, 2015 along with Debra Black, Registered Yoga Teacher. The afternoon will cover how to improve your digestion through nutrition and yoga and is a great chance to understand a part your health that’s rarely openly discussed.
I hope to feature her on the blog in the future to talk all things health, but for now if you’re in Toronto you can swing by the event and meet her yourself!
