This week marked the beginning of a new relationship for me. I left my old personal trainer for a new one and we had our first session together on Wednesday night. As I type this my legs and tush are still hella sore, but we had a great hour together and I’m feeling really good about what’s to come!
There’s no question things were going well with my previous trainer at LA Fitness, but as the end of my contract approached and I looked at the year ahead, I started to think I really wanted to step things up further. I did some research and opted to go to a private trainer for a few reasons, but above all it had to do with #ProjectBridesmaidBod. My older sister is getting married this summer (the one in the middle – yay!) and for the first time in a long time, I have a major event that will be bringing family, friends and strangers together.
Joined by my little sister, I’ll be one of two bridesmaids – a true honour, but a scary thought given how I feel about my body right now. All eyes will of course be on the beautiful bride, but just in case they glance over once or twice I want to be looking fierce!
Knowing the day will be immortalized in photos means I am ready to seriously focus and get down to a comfortable weight once and for all, but I also know I need a serious helping hand to stay the course and actually succeed. I found my trainer through Kijiji of all places, but her rates were great and she provided totally private, one-on-one sessions.
We met in December and I knew I had made a great choice – she’s a former fitness model and competitor (read: crazy fit), super compassionate and understanding of the struggles women face when it comes to body image and eating and above all, she was kind. I knew I would be getting her undivided attention when we were together and over the last few weeks before we’d even been training together she was providing moral support and help with guiding my nutrition.
I’m looking forward to going yet another step further in reaching my goals and can’t wait to report back on my progress. We’re about six months or so out from the wedding so it’s time to kick it in gear!
