Today I wanted to share a look that could go with my new hair (went darker and added purple – close up here), work for Valentine’s Day date nights and above all, provide some girl-power inspo to all you ladies out there, single or not. Girl power has been a major theme of 2016 so far in my life, and I’m really trying to channel that wherever I can in my own special way. With Bey and Rih dropping new music in the last week too, how could I resist?
I’ll admit, I went for pink/purple/red tones here because it’s Valentine’s after all, but this is a look I’d wear out with girlfriends for a dance night or to a date with my boyfriend – but that’s just because I like to be ready to go dancing at any given moment.
The stars of this look include:
- Stila Eyeshadow in Go Lightly (my favourite shimmery neutral-toned base)
- Kat Von D’s Mi Vido Loca Remix palette (limited edition), using Love (a light rosy pink) in the crease and Rewind (a deep burgundy) on the outer edge
- MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Cream in Black for the liner
- Sephora Cream Lip Stain in Blackberry Sorbet (I think – this is the closest shade to what I’m wearing on the website and the tube I have has no shade name or number on it)
I kept the colours of the shadow here pretty light in terms of pigment – rather than packing it on, I aimed for a subtle and shimmery rosy toned eye in the spirit of Valentine’s. Lots of blending here without going all the way to the brow bone, and I love the overall metallic/shimmery finish. Kept it simple with winged liner and a set of natural-looking falsies, and voila!
Admittedly, my Valentine’s will probably entail indulging in doing not much of anything (a major luxury for Brad and I) so if I do recreate this for the actual day, it will solely be for myself.
What do you have planned for this weekend?
