Last week I reviewed the Kat Von D Shade and Light face contouring palette, and I mentioned when I ordered that palette I threw in the Shade and Light Eye Contour palette as well. I’m not a big eyeshadow girl but I loved all the neutrals in the set, the fact that they were matte and the price was was right.
You can’t miss the structure of the palette – three sections fall under their own colour quads: neutral, cool and warm. This makes it perfect for all skin tones and basically foolproof, and if you feel like mixing and matching the possibilities are endless.
As soon as I had it in my hot little hands, I got to playing around. My first look? A bold, smokey eye I’d usually go-to for a night out. I decided for the sake of this review to stick with one of the colour quads, so I opted for the cool quad and followed the enclosed guides for some inspiration.
These shadows are pigmented and blend BEAUTIFULLY, making them some of the best shadows I’ve ever tried. After applying some Urban Decay Primer Potion, I started with the base colour Lazarus, all over the lid up to the brow. I applied the contour shade Saleos just above my crease because I have hooded eyelids and if I apply directly to the crease, the colour is lost and my eyes appear smaller. I added the highlight shade Liberatus to the inner corner and just a little on the brow bone, and finished with the define shade Shax on the outer corner and blended into a bold smokey look. I topped everything off with some lashes, liner and mascara and voila! A perfect night-out look was born.
I’m obsessed with this palette. It’s perfect for light everyday makeup and super dramatic bold makeup, and everything in-between. The product is high-quality and for a girl who’s not the best with eyeshadow, I love the results.
You can grab it online for $55.00 at Sephora!
