In my recent Shopper’s Drug Mart haul, I also scooped up a new liquid/long-wear lipstick to add to my collection of favourites, L’Oreal Paris’ Infalliable Never Fail Lipcolor. When a product outright says it never fails, you know I’m intrigued and have to test it myself!
I grabbed it in Geranium to balance out my collection with something a little more versatile and neutral compared to many of the bold reds I have already. I was really into the packaging – it’s a neat little rectangle and has the lip colour on one side with a clear balm on the other (if you’ve tried liquid lipstick you know how drying it can be, so it’s always nice when a product comes with a built in gloss or balm to prevent a ton of drying). I loved the colour – it’s a soft pink shade that works really well for day looks at the office.
It promises 16 (!) hours of comfortable wear, and while I can’t say I’ve worn it over a 16 hour period just yet, I did find it stays put throughout the day. That said, it’s not perfect – it’s the first I’ve ever tried that’s left product on my teeth, but it only happened once and was easy to rub off. Be careful though, no one wants to go about their day with lipstick on their teeth without knowing!
Like most long-wear products, it goes on using a doe-foot applicator much like a gloss and dries to a matte, dry finish. I topped it off with the balm and overall found it didn’t totally dry out or settle into the lines of my lips but it delivered on its promise of staying without needing touch-ups. Overall, I love how it looks and performs.
What I really love about this line is the affordability and range of products – I think mine was on sale for about $6 and it typically goes around the $10 mark at drugstores, and there was no shortage of colour options to browse. This was a totally worthwhile buy and I’ll definitely be checking out more shades!
