MAKE UP FOR EVER (MUFE) has been dropping one amazing product after another over the last few months, and their new Artist Plexi-Glosses are no exception. In a time where it seems every brand is releasing super matte liquid lipsticks (no complaints here about that), MUFE is shifting the focus from no shine to total shine with this line of super glossy, pigmented and long-lasting glosses in 35 eye-catching shades.
Dany Sanz, Creator and Artistic Director of MUFE, was actually inspired by Plexiglas® for the product and aimed to mimic that kind of shine and glass-like finish. Formulated with Prizmalite® spherical micro-beads and high levels of pigment, that shine is achieved along with serious colour payoff, making it wear beautifully on the lips.
I tried the product in two shades, 202 Sweet Pink (a sheer pink) and 405P Pearly Plum (a deep, sheer red), both of which are safer, everyday colours you could wear just about anywhere. What I love about this line though is the range of colours and the fact there are two finishes, pearly and non-pearly. It goes from clear all the way to black (yes, black!) and has every colour in between – just take one look at the product page on Sephora and you’ll see there’s something for everyone.
My overall thoughts – the product is a thicker, stickier gloss, but that’s what makes it stay in place for hours of wear and I promise it’s not an uncomfortable stickiness. You don’t need much to see just how easily it wears and applies. Instead of a traditional doe foot applicator, the unique SuperFlex applicator almost looks like a little oven mitt that can literally scoop product onto the wand so you don’t have to go back into the tube a dozen times to get a little product to apply, which is very handy. As mentioned, the colour payoff is excellent and what you see in the tube is what you get on the lips.
If you’re a gloss kind of girl, I’d definitely recommend checking these out. Find them at Sephora, Sephora.ca, and MAKE UP FOR EVER boutiques for $23.00 each!
