We live in a time where trends in beauty explode and take over at light speed, leaving a lot of brands to play catch-up in releasing products that will help their fans achieve the latest looks. Contouring is a perfect example, and MAKE UP FOR EVER (MUFE), has never been one of those brands. They’ve consistently catered to artists, meaning all of the trends that are transitioning from tried, tested and true trade secrets to Instagram fodder have been covered in their product range for decades.
Contouring: The trend that just won’t quit.
MUFE has always had the products you need to achieve a chiseled look, they’ve done an excellent job of using their industry leader status for good to create products that work for artists and help the everyday consumer improve their makeup game. The newest offering from them to achieve your contouring dreams? The Pro Sculpting Face Palette.
It’s a four-in-one cream palette that contains everything you need to achieve a glowing, sculpted look and each of the creams is a smooth, creamy and super-blendable formula. As someone with very fair skin, this is essential, especially when it comes to the contouring shade.
I do my foundation, any necessary colouring-correcting and concealing before applying this, and start with the highlight shade on the far left. I apply this under my eyes and on my cheekbones, the bridge of my nose, cupid’s bow and a little on my chin. I follow with the contour shade anywhere I want to minimize – jawline, under the cheekbones, around the frame of my face and sides of my nose. From here, I blend with my damp beautyblender.
I’ll follow this with the shimmer shade and simply use my fingers in a tapping motion to apply on the cheekbones, down the centre of my nose and on my cupid’s bow. Finally, I’ll take either a really dense blush brush or duo fiber brush to lightly blend the colour in a figure eight motion on the apples of my cheeks up towards the top of the cheekbone. I’ll set everything with corresponding powder products and do a final light dusting with translucent powder all over to lock it in place.
This palette in 20 (for fair skin tones) is perfect on my porcelain skin. From a wearing perspective, I find it looks and feels great after all day wear, with the exception of my under-eye area where the product settles a little into the fine lines.
Overall, this is a solid palette and great value from a classic brand. Find it at Sephora or MAKE UP FOR EVER for $54.00 CAD.
