On June 14, I had the privilege of checking out the VOCAB Gift Lounge, part of the MMVA weekend festivities in Toronto. The event was filled with amazing brands both big and small sharing the latest in what they had to offer, one being Mary Kay who had some killer new products to show off. It’s definitely not your mother’s makeup anymore, especially with the new Mary Kay At Play line of products. Offering bold and bright eyeshadows, lip crayons, glosses and more fun packaging, the products cater to a younger crowd looking for something a little more playful and adventurous in their makeup bags.
The new Bold Fluid Liners are a perfect example of something different to add to your kit. The line offers four bright and intense shades that can be worn alone or used to create a really colourful and different look – they really lend themselves to playing around. I was especially excited to receive them in my VOCAB gift bag since liquid liner has been a beauty staple of mine for years.
As you can see, the applicator for the liner is short which I do prefer when it comes to choosing a liquid liner. It’s also a rather stiff applicator – I wouldn’t call it a brush as it feels more like just a flexible pointed end. It took some getting used to but once you get past that, you’ll find it makes it really easy to apply and allows the colour to go exactly where you want it. It dries quickly so you don’t have to worry about any transfer of product to your lid once you open your eyes and it goes on bold, as promised.
I tried the product in Hello Violet and The Real Teal and I must say – I loved, loved, LOVED them both, but if I had to choose on over the other I’d go with the violet as it complemented my eye colour more. They were so much fun to play with, easy to use and definitely something I’d wear for a night out with girlfriends. I’d even wear them to work ever-so-subtly by applying the coloured liner first then going over with my usual black liner only to let a thin line peek through for a pop of colour. Since I don’t typically wear eyeshadow on a daily basis, it’s a fun way for me to dress things up a bit without going overboard. Check out a few of the looks I tried out!
Overall, these are some awesome liners to have on hand and I highly recommend you find your closest Mary Kay rep or visit their online store to stock up. At just $12.00 these are an absolutely amazing find, perfect for summer!
