Summer always gives me some major skin woes. Sweat, sun and humidity are often a recipe for melting makeup and random bumps that even go beyond my face, and I generally am left feeling gross and looking less-than-fabulous by the end of most days. I know we all love the heat over snowstorms, but I just don’t think I’ll ever be a person who lives for summer for this very reason.
As a result, I tend to really stock up on the cleansing and mattifying products through the season, in search of anything that will reduce the appearance and feeling of oil and shine. When Murad Canada connected with me to introduce some of their products, I jumped at the chance to see if a new holy grail product would be among them.
I was given their Daily Cleansing Foam ($30.00 CAD), which is made for combination skin. It works to clear pores and keep oily and dry zones nice and even – exactly what this gal is after. I was also provided with their Oil-Control Mattifier SPF 15 | PA++ moisturizer ($40.00 CAD), which I was most excited to try since it had my favourite word (mattify) in the name, as well as SPF coverage.
Thoughts on the cleanser: Overall, a great everyday product. Part of me wishes it wasn’t a foam, because I’ve never been a fan of foam anything (Side note: I worked at Bath & Body Works and never understood the obsession with foam soap. All of the work you have to do to actually clean your hands is eliminated!) but if you’re into foam, this product does the job. I didn’t see a huge difference between it and my regular cleansing milk, but I did feel my skin tighten post-use and found my skin felt soft and fresh.
Thoughts on the moisturizer: This product was a lot thicker than I imagined it would be – that’s not bad, just an observation. I actually loved how it felt on my skin and found very little does a lot, which is great when it comes to getting the most bang for your buck. I tried it both with a mattifying primer and without, and found that it’s almost better to wear this without a primer since it’s so thick – layering another product on top before makeup made everything kind of gel together in a weird way. I love that it has SPF (some is better than none) and you can easily wear it on its own on non-makeup days. I’ve found myself reaching for it repeatedly since receiving it and will continue to do so through these steamy months!
