Revlon continues to put out some impressive products for us ladies who prefer high-quality yet budget friendly products. I always recommend Revlon if my friends are looking for drugstore brand products, since I know the name is one I can count on for quality.
I recently tried out a few eye products that were all out of my usual beauty zone. I’m devoted to liquid liner, rarely wear eyeshadow and have been using the same mascara for years, so the Colorstay Eye Liners, Shadowlinks and new Bold Lacquer Mascara were all new territory for me.
Colorstay Eye Liner
This is another longwear product from Revlon, offering new shades and improvements to the classic Colorstay Eye Liner. In addition to existing shades Black, Black Brown, Brown and Charcoal, they’ve added jewel-tones including Amethyst, Jade and Sapphire, and they’re waterproof.
The eyeliner also has a built-in smudger which is perfect if you’re going for a smokey eye or want something a little less defined.
I found the colours to be very pretty, but was hoping for a more opaque finish – while the product applied very easily and still offers a vibrant pop of colour, I was really hoping for a defined, bold finish (I suppose it’s my liquid liner tastes). That said, they definitely add a wow-factor to any eye look and at just $10.49, they’re an affordable way to change up your usual routine.
Revlon’s also made it easier now to mix & match your favourite eyeshadow colours and build your own palette with their new Shadowlinks eyeshadows. The range comes in a whopping 30 shades from matte to sparkly, and with the way they click together you really can build a customized palette to create all kinds of looks.
I found the shadow to be of great quality, and you can see from the swatches below that some shades go on bold while others offer a light hint of colour – a great variety to choose from if you ask me.
Bold Lacquer Mascara
Since I switched to plastic mascara wands I’ve been very loyal to them, so I was really excited to see how well the new Bold Lacquer mascara would perform in the length & volume department compared to my usual brush. The product offers a bold, black finish since it’s made using only high-shine black fibers, and the formula boasts lacquer film technology made to “anchor the mascara to the base of the lashes, stretching a smooth film to the tips for incredible length and volume.” Sounds amazing, right?
I have to say I was impressed (curious to see it on? Scroll back up! I’m wearing it in the Shadowlinks photos). I found it compared to my high-end mascara with the plastic brush, I’m just not so sure I want to switch just yet. For a mascara that retails at just $10.29, this is brush with lots of bristles and a bold formula. It comes in 3 shades: Blackest Black, Black and Blackened Brown (a lot of black!) and is also available in a waterproof formula.
These products are all available in stores now and a great way to add some quality products to your makeup bag without breaking the bank.
