Seriously…what is going on with the time these days? We’re already almost mid-September? Yikes.
Things have been so busy for me lately with lots of changes on the go and I think I’m finally starting to regain my footing and get a routine in place again. You may have seen on Twitter (I can’t even remember if I tweeted about it) or Instagram that I had my last day at my now-old job and started a new gig this past Monday. It’s been an interesting few weeks leading up to this point filled with transitioning from the old to the new job, a surprise weekend at RiotFest and navigating my way through a new commute, work neighbourhood and daily schedule.
Leaving MAVERICK was a bittersweet process – it’s exciting to be taking on a new position that’s the same but different with more responsibility (I went from tech/corporate/B2B PR to design/architecture/real estate PR like *that*) but it’s always sad to close the chapter on a fruitful time of your life. Saying goodbye to my colleagues, clients and sharing it throughout my network was tough, but it’s so important to keep pushing the boundaries of your comfort zone and trying new things.
In the middle of my last week I got an email from NOW Magazine saying I’d won RiotFest tickets (well, me and half the festival’s attendees I’m pretty sure). I’d actually forgotten I’d even entered, but who am I to turn down the chance to see some of my old fave bands from high school and of course, Death Cab for Cutie? I called up my girlfriend Krista to tag along and while we certainly weren’t the typical festival-goers, we had a really fun (and delicious corndog) filled weekend. It was an excellent way to spend a free Saturday and Sunday, but it also made me feel a little more nervous about starting the new gig on Monday since I didn’t give myself a full day to mentally prep. Perhaps that was for the best…I tend to get worked up about these things for no reason.
Fast forward to today, and I’m starting to feel like myself again. I got back in the gym with my trainer this morning (at 5:30 a.m., no less – my commute is sadly longer and eats up more of my morning) and even though it’s only been a week since I saw her, I didn’t get there on my own at all between appointments and it ended up feeling like an eternity off from my regular workouts. Benefits of trainers? Keeping you in the gym on a regular basis!
And now, I’m finally starting to see how my schedule is looking these next few weeks to get the ol’ blog back on track. It’s easily one of the biggest challenges of having a blog – finding the time to write compelling content, snap photos, test out products, etc. on a consistent basis. I’ve got a mostly clear weekend ahead of me that will surely be filled with lots of writing, photographing, editing and so on both for RLBE and BlushPretty. I think come next Monday I’ll be caught up again…then again, I always say these things and somehow fall behind in no time.
As predicted, fall is a busy one for me. How’s your September starting out? Low-key or busy like me?
