Back in December I attended the Unilever 2015 preview and out of everything I had to see, one set of products had my attention the most – the new Tresemmé Perfectly (Un)Done Waves collection. The line includes a shampoo, conditioner, hairspray, wave spray and wave foam for anyone looking to amp up and tame their natural waves or those looking to fake it.
I brought home samples of the shampoo & conditioner and couldn’t wait to try them out. Growing up I had very curly hair that was in a constant state of frizz, and as I’ve gotten older the curls appear to have softened and I’m left with natural beachy waves that I try to embrace, but the key to making them work is great product. Knowing someone out there had formulated an entire line devoted to my hair type was just too exciting, and I started using what I had right away.
Never before have I noticed such a difference or impact on my hair with product as I have with this collection.
Cross my heart & hope to die – these products work wonders on naturally wavy hair. I was so thrilled with the shampoo and conditioner that I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the rest of the line, and it didn’t disappoint.
To start, the Weightless Silicone-Free Shampoo and Weightless Moisturizing Conditioner ($7.99 each, well.ca) both have sea kelp extract, an ingredient known to help achieve natural beachy waves. The products moisturize without weighing hair down, and paired together you’re left with soft locks that are much easier to work with. Then you can reach for either the Waves Creating Sea Foam ($9.99, well.ca) or the Sea Salt Spray ($9.99, well.ca). The foam is a super light product with sea kelp extract that tames frizz without weighing hair down too much. Personally I found the foam worked better when I let my hair air dry – since my hair is thin, I still found it a bit heavy for heat styling. The salt spray is the perfect drugstore alternative to some of the high-end sea salt sprays we all reach for during the summer months. It too has sea kelp extract, is even lighter than the foam but gives a more defined finish and doesn’t feel sticky, leaving natural just-left-the-beach waves behind.

Finally, you can top it all off with the Ultra-Brushable Hairspray ($6.99, well.ca) which provides lightweight control and gives a polished finish to your look. If you’re styling softer waves on longer hair the brushable factor is a huge plus, but as someone with shorter hair who typically doesn’t bother brushing it’s also great to keep everything in place without making it too stiff.
I can’t recommend this enough as both a super-effective and budget-friendly option for my wavy and curly-haired friends out there, so definitely check it out if you’re considering it.
