At the start of this year I had my first-ever facial. The opportunity came up through working with BlushPretty to try out Naomi Mundy‘s new service offerings through In The Buff Spa and I immediately booked an appointment. As a younger woman who’s yet to experience anywhere near the worst of my skin problems, I thought it would be a great educational experience to sit down and talk about my skin and discuss what I can be doing to ensure I’m taking good care of it. One of Naomi’s biggest recommendations was to get an effective skincare regime in place, and for my skin in particular she suggested a cleansing milk versus other types of cleansers, given my borderline-sensitive and combination type.
I went searching for something from a brand that had some clout in the skincare arena (instead of do-it-all drugstore brands) that would also be at a comfortable price point. After much comparing back and forth, I settled on Vichy’s Purité Thermale Cleansing Milk & Toner, both for sensitive to combination skin.
I’ve now been using the cleanser and toner along with a moisturizer twice a day since the middle of May, and let me tell you…what. a. difference. I don’t think I’ve ever had so few breakouts in my life or seen my skin so fresh when I’m not wearing makeup!
What makes Purité Thermale line different from other products? Each of the products are highly concentrated with Vichy’s Thermal Spa Water – an ingredient proven to soothe and fortify sensitive skin. I never used to think I had sensitive skin, but my time with Naomi proved I was wrong and while didn’t have severe sensitivity issues, I definitely needed to be mindful of treating my skin right. Sensitive skin also runs in my family (both my mother and sister suffer from eczema), so I’d be silly not to take appropriate measures to protect myself. Because this line has the mineral-infused water from Vichy, it helps tackle sensitivity at all points of my skincare regime.
The cleansing milk is great for a variety of reasons aside from the key ingredient. It’s very mild, light and non-greasy, and does an amazing job of removing makeup at the end of a long day (I still use eye makeup remover). Oh, and it smells faaantastic – a huge plus. Using it in the shower first thing in the morning, especially after the gym, feels so refreshing and clean and really helps set my day on the right track.
Following with the toner is even more refreshing and gentle (I’m with the 80% of women who experience an “immediate refreshing sensation”) and once I’ve moisturized, I feel so much better whether I’m getting ready to take on the day or washing away the day’s stresses.
If you’ve got sensitive or combination skin and you’re looking to up your skincare routine, check out the Purité Thermale line. I picked my products up at Shoppers Drug Mart on sale for about $16.00 each, and they regularly retail around the $21.00 mark – a totally affordable option in my opinion, plus I can score Optimum Points when I buy!
