A few weeks ago I attended a pilot Adults Only event at the Ontario Science Centre, and as risqué as that sounds it just means they keep the centre open late for guests 19 and older so you can enjoy the exhibits with a drink in hand and without little ones running around. They also have several food stations throughout serving up gourmet snacks, and since on this particular evening the major exhibit was their ScienceROCKS! the theme of the evening was rock ‘n’ roll. With that came a team of beauty and hair pros offering rockstar makeovers, and while I didn’t want my makeup done I was all for getting my hair done!
The result was a vintage 20s-esque hair style that I absolutely loved (okay, not exactly “rock star” but I cringed at the though of someone teasing my hair!) and as the artist did my hair, I watched very closely to see what she was doing. Using a curling iron, she curled everything up nice and tight with a pretty standard sized iron, then brushed it out leaving behind a soft wave and curls at the ends which sat so nicely. A few sprays of hairspray later, and I was all set to enjoy the Science Centre feeling pretty glam!
I turned to Stephanie Daga of BlushPretty to ask how the hell I could replicate it – if there’s anyone who’d know, it’s her. She recommended a 1 1/4″ iron from Hot Tools, a professional-grade iron that would do the trick.
And so, this is my want for the week – I’m looking forward to practicing my skills and adding some new styles into the mix!
